TSonDemand NIGHT SERVICE

The on-demand night bus service in Trieste

NOTTURNO is the on-demand night bus service in Trieste.

NOTTURNO is the result of the collaboration between Trieste Trasporti, Tpl Fvg, the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and the University of Trieste. The NOTTURNO service will operate on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., starting on Friday 21 July 2023.

To use the service, it is necessary to download the TSonDemand app, available for Android and iOS.

NOTTURNO is active between Barcola, viale Campi Elisi, piazza Garibaldi, piazzale Gioberti and via Valerio (San Cilino), and only uses the regular bus stops of the local public transport service. From the TSonDemand app, it is possible to consult the routes and stops of the service.

From the Italian version of this page, you can download the NOTTURNO brochure and consult the map.

The night bus ticket costs EUR 2.50. For the summer months, a promotional fare of 2 euro will be applied. The first ride for those who sign up for the service with the TSonDemand app is free of charge.

The ticket is purchased directly in the app at the time of booking, with credit card or Paypal. Payment is made when you board the bus and give your name to the driver.

Rides can only be booked through the app, indicating the departure stop, the destination stop, and the time of your interest.

Each passenger can book for themselves and for a maximum of 19 other people.

It is possible to book the night bus service from 14 days before the ride, but the booking can also be made in real time: the earlier you book, the greater the chance that the ride will be available at the requested time.

The following questions and answers contain all the information you need to use the service. You can also contact the call centre at 0409712343 and the Tpl Fvg customer service at servizioclienti@tplfvg.it

1) After downloading the TSonDEMAND app and registering, you need to select your departure point on the map within the contoured area. There are two ways to do this: either you can drag the cursor (or pin) to the starting point, or you can write the address of the stop in the space provided (you can only get on or off at the service's normal bus stops).

2) Once the starting point has been chosen, you need to set the destination: this can also be done on the map or by clicking on one of the already set destinations.

3) Finally, it is necessary to communicate the number of passengers and whether there are people with disabilities in wheelchairs (each reservation allows you to reserve up to a maximum of 20 seats: if the passengers are more than 20, you need to make two or more reservations).

4) At this point, the app proposes to the customer the first available bus route for the day and time slot indicated: if you wish to book a bus route for the following hours or days, simply click on PROGRAMMA UNA CORSA and choose the day and time of the trip: you can choose to leave after a certain time or to arrive by a certain time.

5) Once the journey has been confirmed, the app informs the customer of the booking and the departure time: on the day of the journey, a few minutes before the bus departs, the customer is notified by SMS of the exact departure time. Be careful not to be late: the bus can wait up to a maximum of 30 seconds after the scheduled time, then it will depart again. It is therefore advisable to be at the bus stop a few minutes in advance.

6) It is possible to book the night bus service from 14 days before the ride, but the booking can also be made in real time: the earlier you book, the greater the chance that the ride will be available at the requested time.
